Dialogue and Conferences
The Dialogue and Conference Program of the Asian Program Foundation is a key component of the Foundation's efforts to foster tolerance, respect and peaceful engagement between Muslims of Southeast Asia and the West.
At each event a component of the dialogue is an identification of action steps that each attendee might take in his home country. The action steps are intended to foster better relations and ease impediments to fruitful engagement, thereby building on a network of leaders who will become advocates of and voices for mutual trust and respect. The participants, leaders in their fields, contribute to an ever-growing number of voices that encourage pluralism and tolerance, key components of the APF mission.
Our next conference will be the "Jakarta Dialogue" to be held in Indonesia in 2009. The program will focus on opportunities through an understanding of the impact of Islam on the nature and growth of business within South and Southeast Asia as well as with investors and partners from outside the region. The gathering will follow our model of an informed and candid exchange of views by all parties present. Each session of the program will be designed to elicit lively and frank dialogue among the participants. Attendees will be encouraged and called upon to contribute to the each session, following our ethos of pluralism and tolerance.
